Do you like to glance in/rummage in skips? Have you ever had a "find" in a skip?

I've rarely been known to..glance...in a skip......I'm in there rummaging... love it....saving stuff from landfill....finding a treasure. Once found a beautiful mirror...Worst skips? Priest's houses.

Does anyone remember the woman on Antiques Roadshow that looked after a rubbish tip and had sets of diamond and other jewellery found down the backs of armchairs. She was on the programme with her son a few years back.

my son makes a point of checking out any skips in our village, he takes any kind of electrical wiring and collects it then takes it to the scrapmetal yard to be weighed in. electric wire (unstripped) brings him in around £80 a month usually. builders/plumbers/electricians discard it and he reaps the reward for recycling it. Tip for anyone thinking of doing it, never burn the plastic coating off before weighing it in, it is illegal apparently due to environmental laws and the yard won't take it off you with burn marks on it for that reason
