Good afternoon I wonder if anyone can help me finnish this quiz.I posted yesterday and got some answers,still require two.Many thanks if you can help
The answers have a point from a weather vane N.S.E.W.

1: The direction of the Earths axis rotation (4)letters
2: A ship sailing left (7)letters

Sorry but do the answers contain one of these letters?
any ship sailing at all is sailing 'forward' so that could be your other answer, but its not specifically left and I don't know of a nautical term for anything left that is 7 letters, as starboard or astarboard just can't go.
Leeward?
was going to put leeward but that is more to do with the direction of the wind?
leeward fits, but if it's the answer it's a poor clue - leeward means down wind from the point of refererence
Tacking??
Easting.
Easting is the distance travelled or measured eastward, especially at sea. Not sailing left.
Leeward is not right also.
Does the answer have to have one of the letters NEWS, or one of the names of the compass points?
