I have a creature or more than one. How it / they got in I don't know. Can you tell me the best way to get rid. Do those plug ins work? I have to deal with it myself as Mic is unable. All what is happening to us of late is getting too much for me. They have torn bags of salted nuts and glazier mints. I posted a couple of days ago about missing choc bars. Can they really carry away whole bars without leaving a trace?
This is the link to the post I am speaking of.

They won't; they know/sense that you are there, Jeza. That's an exercise in redundancy - go for the flour.....
Jeza I had a rat that found it's way underneath the house from the outside, last Christmas. I called a pest controller (yellow pages) in the end because our poison didn't kill it off. He put loads of poison down near the hole it made and it killed it. Cost me £75 as he was treating it as a family and not one lone rat. I never saw it. Don't handle any poison without gloves and wash your hands. I understand how you feel I was absolutely scared stiff couldn't sleep. Try not to worry too much, but get someone in to sort it out for you. The council wouldn't treat the rat problem, but were very good at looking around the area in case there were more about.

Ratter. Two problems here I have a fitted kitchen. I do not have a strong man. I have a very sick man and no relatives to help. Ain't life a bitch.
Go to bed jeza ..they won't come while you are there....put down a sprinkling of flour ...check where the prints ..if any..take you....in the morning....
If you see tracks in the morning ..maybe pest control at environmental health at your council will help you ...
if it comes to it, Jeza, I am sure we can scramble an ABer (male - but then as to some of our dears?????) to come in and help you move things if it comes to that. We just need to know where you are then arrange contact through a dummy e-mail (as some of us have done) to remain anonymous on here.
Jeza, it does sound like you may well be better off contacting a Pest Control Company or the local Council, they may have a free service in your area, some do. It wont hurt to give them a ring and find out.
Can't chat as just off to bed but remove the kick board from the bottom of the kitchen cupboards (think that's what its called?) and you'll probably find your wrappers behind there. Good luck. It took us 3 months to get rid of our resident rodent, and a further two months to get rid of the smell of rotting flesh! You have my sympathy. It was horrific and really stressful! :-(

Thanks to all you good people. I'm going to bed. Please carry on giving your advice to me. Whatever it is please, don't climb in /on my bed tonight.
Night night Jeza ! Xx
Thanks Madmen, I didn't mention the kick boards, they will need to be checked as well, they could well be hiding the chocolate behind there.
Night all - happy Rodent Raiding......
I can tell you the 'sonic repellers ' are useless , we had mice and they just ran over them without a care . We had the 'live capture' traps as well again useless. The only thing that worked was poison and the old fashioned spring mouse traps baited with peanut butter. We got 4 with the traps and 4 with poison but the live capture and the sonic repellers were a waste of money totally useless.
"the live capture and the sonic repellers were a waste of money totally useless."

I totally agree!!
Morning Jeza, I wasn't around last night, but I hope you have some success today with a pest control company. I think it best to call them rather than deal with it yourself because they can work through it systematically and make sure you get them all, rather than you wait and worry.

Please also ask them where hey think they came in and call a local handyperson to block the hole/s for you. Good luck and let us know how you get on.
Just checking in to see if there's been an update on rat-gate.

Jeza, did you remove the kickboards?

We phoned the council, after weeks of laying down traps with no joy, and he just came round, had a look under the cupboards and put more traps down with a snickers bar as the bait. Think we paid about £80 for that complete waste of time.
It was really stressful, as I never wanted to go in the kitchen. The thought of something crawling all over the place at night made me feel sick. I went through loads of bleach, as I was so paranoid about it spreading disease.
We tried the traditional traps and then glue boards (wouldn't recommend them at all!!) and in the end we laid out some poison.
I posted a question about it on AB at the time, and was told that the rat would eat the poison and "go off and die somewhere else". Well, that didn't really work out, as it died somewhere underneath the floorboards and we had weeks and weeks of the worst smell you could ever imagine.
It got so bad that we ended up ripping up the floorboards in all the rooms downstairs - but STILL never found him.
I used to come home from work and put a face mask on at the front door, it was THAT bad!
If it does die in your house, just a personal opinion, don't bother buying anything that claims to either mask or absorb the odour. I bought two large bags from Rentokil, which were supposedly 'industrial strength' and they did bugger all.

Good luck :-)

I agree 100% with Eddies method of eliminating those stinky critters. Nothing else works. Even if you call an exterminator, they too use large traps and poison. I too tried the 'sonic repellers and it was useless.
Oh dear, I think Jeza may have been consumed by a giant rat!!! Jeza, where are you?
