Oh No- Last Michael Connolly! What Next?

I've read every book he's written and loved them. But what shall i try next? I'll be lost without him!

I'm on his mailing list so I know when a new book is going to be released, I feel your pain though, I finished Black Box a few weeks ago. The Gods of Guilt (Mickey Haller) is out in Nov so I'll be keeping my eye on the library catalogue so I can order it.

who else do you read, rockyracoon? I only started reading as a hobby a year ago, after a friend recommended connelly. omeone has suggested stephen leather, have you read any?

Never heard of him chrisgal, you might like Robert Crais, he writes about a private dick called Elvis Cole with a sidekick called Pike, they're a very good read. I'll have a think about some more for you, is it US cop books you're after or do you like good mysteries as well?

You only started reading Connolly a year ago, wow! You must have overdosed yourself a bit.

yes i think i have!
I've always read the classics - dickens, austen, dostoyevsky etc, when i was younger and with three kids couldn't find the time to read.
I needed something easy and not to dark, yet still intelligent and with a good story! The girls at work read girlie, trashy novels and i just couldn't get into them - (after two chapters, i really didn't care whether she married him or not!)
I loved connelly from the very start, (unfortunately, i read 'the drop' first!!)

it doesn't have to be american cops, and the last mystery i read was the woman in white!

I really enjoy his books to crisgal and still have a few left to read.

His name is right in the middle and all the authors closest to the same theme and his way of storytelling are around him. Hope it helps.

Stephen Leather is a good author have a go with some of his books. I like Peter Robinson's, Insp. Banks detective novels mainly set in Yorkshire, I will be gutted if he stopped writing. Harlen Coben and Lee Child are also good to read.

Harlen Coben and Linwood Barclay both write good reads, Linda Fairstein, Kathy Reichs and Carol O'Connell are also very good. Patricia Cornwell's first 10 books or so are great, after that they sort of get boring, Lee Child's Jack Reacher comes heavily recommended though I haven't read them myself but they are on the to do list.

If you like a sense of "place" in your books can I put in a good word for a couple of my favourites? Donna Leon and her Commissario Brunetti series (Venice) and Louise Penny and her Inspector Gamache series set mostly in a Canadian village. Both make a nice change!
