Verge Of Solving A Mystery

Long story really but, I found out in 2001 from my last surviving maternal Great aunt that her father, my great grandfather, had gone away to work when she was born (1912) and ended up not returning for 10 years. In those ten years a small sum of money would arrive every week to help support his family, (Including my grandma). I have no real evidence as to when more info came ot light, but my great aunt told me that one day she was shopping with her mother on Todmorden market and a man stopped them and chatted with her mother and he gave my great aunt a coin. when he had gone she asked her mother who it was and she was told 'that's your father'. Bearing in mind they were married in 1897 and had 7 children in all, he didn't ignore his financial responsibility. Anyway, my great aunt told me in 2001 that apparently he had another family all together during those 10 years which she knew about but couldn;t say when she found out about them.

dot......can i ask you a quick question? how do i go about searching for my family history in hungary? my mum's side of the family come from over there (and my dad's side has been traced back centuries in this country) and i'm really curious to find out? sorry for interrupting x

My couisn and I have looked for any clues alot over the last few years but of course we had nothing much to go on and my great aunt had said he had gone to work on the docksin newcastle.
Ok. roll forward to last week and i spotted him in someones tree on ancestry but it looked odd. I messaged the person.
It is the daughter of a man born in Liverpool in 1912 who always told her that he was related to my ancestors and used to visit their farm in Todmorden as a teenager. He told her he was a cousin.
I have looked at every sibling and every spouse of that generation and the surname she has is no where connected. I am now 75% sure that her father was one of the children my great grandfather had whilst working ont he docks, her grandfather was a docker in Liverpool in 1912. It may be possible that my great aunt was told the story by her mother, who died when i was 7, but that she was told Liverpool Docks and not Newcastle and she's mixed it up.
This person from ancestry cannot find any connection on her side to the family either but there is a great aunt still living who was the younger sister of the man who said he was a cousin to my family . I am very excited to think we could be really close to solving this as it is one of those things that can't be discovered from the archives!

lcg I haven't found an Anglo-Hungarian family history society in this country but look at this for possible links, it is a few years old but should give you an idea of some sources.

no jno he was on the 1911 in tod and then left in the summer of 1912.

I'm not expecting him to show up in electoral rolls as he probably kept his head down but you never know, lol

you're lucky to have great aunts, I haven't even got aunts. I must be one of the oldest of my generation, my descendants should be coming to ask me stuff but of course they aren't interested. They'll be sorry when I'm dead.
