is it just me getting wound up, getting old, but why does the tv picture jump at the start of some of the progs. The opening scene seems stretched then flicks and things look normal. Also why do the end titles jump prior to the trailer for the next programme. Rant over.

This doesn't happen on my TV......
. . . and why are the end titles become unreadable due to info of the next programme. Annoyingly a voice over repeats what is on screen.

it never happened in the days of the old continuity announcer.
Those are the digital tv equivalent of what you used to see on analogue tv as ghosting or snow etc. They are products of interference or weak signals which digital tvs make up for by using slightly older signals to fill in the missing parts.
An antenna booster may eliminate such problems or you might have reposition your antenna.
Jumping picture sounds more of an issue with either your TV or signal, to me. Maybe your TV is trying to optimise the screen view / ratio / whatever.

Yes, the talking over and the squeezing more info on the screen at the end of the show, can be irksome.
sounds like you've the tv is set to automatically adjust the picture aspect ratio - a black border on a broadcast programme can make the tv switch between 16:9 and 4:3
Mine does this, I think it's cos am using an old type TV with the 4:3 screen and the prog being aired is 16;9, so it starts of big and then flips into the widescreen mode.
(ignore you've in the 1st line)
snap bibble.
verily snap

We dont get any of these problems!, we don't watch much TV but when we do we only have a cheap 14 inch portable TV.
