Food

I have an eight month moggie kitten. I feed him two and a half sachets of kitten food daily plus a small bowl of kitten crunches.
Every time I go into the kitchen he follows me in and sits by his food bowl even if it is only minutes since I last fed him looking for more food.
He has recently been given a worming tablet so it can't be worms troubling him.Do you think I am giving him enough food I don't want him to be a literal "fat cat"
Any advice appreciated

So with my second cat I'd give her food on demand and noticed she was getting fat. Now; she gets food on morning and evening and understands that. if she wants more food she can go and hunt for it. However, now she's getting older I wonder if she doesn't have alzheimers....
It does depend on the type of food you are feeding him but 2.5 pouches of cat food doesn't really sound like very much for an 8 month old cat. Most manufacturers will have a recommended amount on their packaging but this can be wildly inaccurate as all cat are different (metabolism, activity etc). If my cat was still hungry I'd consider feeding them a bit more and if they start to put on too much weight then reduce it down to the right level.
I found it easier to level out my cats meals with Iams dry feed - the cats really like it and the meal sizes can be controlled easily. Plus Iams has quite a high meat content, 41% in kitten food, compared with 4% in something like felix kitten pouches. Higher meat content seems to keep my cats fuller for longer and is also better for their digestive systems.

welcome to the world of cats - take note .....dogs have owners, cat's have slaves.
Whats the recommendation on the sachets you are feeding for a cat/kitten of his age and weight - (have you weighed him recently?) maybe he needs to be upped to adult. His worming programme needs to be consistent as I'm sure you know but could it be that he simply hasn't had enough? (beware though- cats are devious) - does he look good, a bit skinny, thin? - only you can say

Thank you all for your advice.
I am going to up his intake to three sachets a day. Morning, dinnertime and night, plus his crunchies and ignore his asking for more, and that will be that for the time being. I rescued him from absolute filth, he was locked in a back room where you could hardly get in for cat faeces, poor little soul. My vet gave him a good examination and apart from ear mites he was found to be healthy, so perhaps he was always hungry and now he has a right softie in tow he is making up for lost meals!!!!
