Anyone up for a bit of reminiscing? In a nightclub many moons ago I was rescued from the unwanted attentions of a peskily persistent wreck of an admirer by a very seaworthy vessel. I spent the rest of the evening with him, but was suddenly called away and had to dash. In retrospect, it was a bit of a Cinderella moment really and I've always regretted not waiting just long enough to exchange phone numbers. I still remember his name. Has an unforgettable ‘ship’ ever crossed your path?

No problem.
One unforgettable ship (well, he was more of an iceberg) approached me one night in a club as I was standing by the dance floor waiting for my friend who had gone to the loo. He asked me 3 times to dance with him and I politely declined each time. He then said "dance with me or I will glass you" and waved an empty pint glass at me.
I danced until I thought my feet were going to drop off. Luckily he keeled over on the dance floor and I legged it.

Yes ..the love of my life whisked away by his daddy to Paris....my heart still breaks for him...
I often think of that evening in Amsterdam.
I've encountered a few tramp steamers in my time. I should have kept out of the bar and be more concentrated on steering the ship rather than stoking the old boiler;-)
"Ah, but we were ships that passed in the night"

"Yes, and there a few old tramp steamers in that lot !" [Hancock reminisces romantically.Sid James replies]

I reckon that all men have had such an experience, even if the woman was some stranger they met or saw on a train.
