Credit Checks
5 Answers
My friend and her family are looking for new rental property, after their landlord asked for them to find somewhere else to live. Thing is that worries her, she had credit reference check 18 months ago, which wasn't good, so she had to pay 6 months rent up front. Now she's looking for other properties, how long does the negative credit reference check last for?

A negative credit check could last until something changes it.

for a credit check - you donthave to sign up for a month and then cancel. there should be a statutory service for £2 but it takes a bit of finding.
It will be there somewhere !
I would try to get a ref from the landlord
the usual three: was she a tenant ?
Did she pay her rent ?
WOuld he give her another tenancy ?
All the landlord wants to know is if she will pay the rent.

My credit is not very good really but I passed the credit check to rent my current flat. I was quite worried at the time though as we'd have lost £250 admin fees/deposit stuff you have to put down and I had tummy butterflies. Has your friend been paying her rent and bills properly since the last check? That might help.
