Memory Stick Problem

I've been using a memory stick for ages without problem, but now when I try to access its contents it comes up not as 'Kingston' (the make of stick), only as 'removable disc', and if I double click to open it, a window comes up saying ' has to be formatted in Drive F'. If I click to say I want to format it, I'm warned I'll lose everything on the stick......Help !!

Whatever you do, don't format it. You'll lose all the data that's stored on it.

Probably brokwn. I don't find them particularly reliable. Hope you had it all backed up.

Are you sure it's the same memory stick?
Have you tried to access it on a different computer?

Every now and then they corrupt. Memory sticks are ideal for data transfer but NOT as backup devices.
Sorry I can't be more help but I think you need to reformat it. You could try Scandisk but I don't think that will work.

Format it, and then run recova on it to see if it can recover the files that were on it...

Well don Chuck! I'd forgotten we successfully recovered about 300 photos from an SD card using Recuva.
(but I've been to sleep since then)
