Hi All,
Had a routine blood test the other day, this time was not a fasting one, as i was told that the new blood test could see back 6 months without fasting. Results were that cholesterol was fine, but doctor said I must cut my sugar intake to nil, lose weight, and get fitter or i would be diabetic within a year.
Several days later, spoke to my friend who lives 300 miles away in sussex, He said He had the same blood test just a few weeks ago and was told exactly the same thing. Is this blood test flawed, are we being given a load of old bull so that we keep well and away from hospitals, and therefore save the government money, or should we be worried? I have lost a few poiunds already, appetite gone and feeling unwell just at the thought of diabetis!
But i can never see what potatoes have to do with it, if they are just boiled. surely they cannot be a health problem? it seems that almost anything edible is a problem. processed foods yes, but vegetables? We tend to cook all our own meals from scratch, that way we know what goes in ( or so we think) it really is a minefield, you need these vitamins and those minerals, but you mustn't eat the food that contains them as its bad for you.
Sounds like the HbA1c test, which can offer a kind of historic look at sugar levels.
Starchy foods, like potatoes, are essentially long chains of sugar molecules, so its as well to control the quantity of your potatoes, even if only boiled.
