I've bought my wife a mini sewing machine as a surprise as part of her birthday present. She's only just started and I think she wants to use it to make curtains.
I have since found out that she doesn't want a mini sewing machine as she can't do what she wants to do with it which is make curtains. Can curtains be sewn on a mini sewing machine or does it have to be regular sized?
I have never used a mini sewing machine, Bobby but I very much doubt it. Curtains appear simple to make but to do them well you need a good machine, preferably with a dual feed such as on the Pfaff.
The problem with mini machines is when you want to sew something where most of the material has to pass through the machine to the right of the needle. There usually just isn't room.
The mini sewing machines are rubbish for anything other than basic mending and hemming etc. I would not attempt to make curtains (or anything else) with one.
Mini sewing machines are really for light work, not really robust enough for heavy curtains. They are probably best used for hems or any small job. I had one quite a while ago thinking it would be light enough to lift and carry around but really it was a waste of money.
