Its worth checking with your vet what they recommend even if you don't buy it there as fleas in different parts of the country can be resistant to different things. Its important to treat the house as well as the animal, also the car if you ever take the cat in the car.

we've always used "frontline" from the vet's for our horde of 6, but at £23 a throw it's getting a bit steep. we've been alerted to something called "Spot-On" which is obtainable from the pharmacy so we're going to try that next time around.

I always go for Advocate, Stronghold is also good.

We don't use Advocate, we find it much too runny and it has a smell which No. 1 son doesn't like. We swear by Stronghold - it's a tad more expensive but it covers worm as well, a dab on the back of the next each month keeps all the nasties at bay. You can buy it on line but you still need a prescription from the vet to do so.

I use the frontline spray for my 8, I must say last year was a nightmare with fleas, but we are doing well so far, all cats love the flea comb, and I am giving them left overs once a week from a whole garlic chicken which i do think is helping, ( well they give garlic horses for flies) only found 1 flea this week on luna, I use drontal wormers.

On dogs, frontline (fipranil) is becoming less effective on fleas in some parts of he UK which is why i suggested talking to the vet.
