Any advice please. I've had to renew my old garden fences,7 in all. I was going to buy Cuprinol Fence Paint but a retired gardener told me its best to get Creosote or the substitute or any fence paint with preservative in. Any thoughts on this please?

I think that creosote is a banned substance in the EU nowadays. Would stick with Cuprinol if it was me.

I thought that fence paint did have a preservative in it?

The answer seems to be that some do and some don't

http://www.cuprinol.co.uk/fences/index.jsp#products. I would go for one that does as you will have to redo it less often.
Creosote cannot be sold to or used by the general public, it's available to 'Trade' only.
