too many raisins?
my 11 month old daughter loves raisins and would eat them all day if we let her. what i want to know is how many are too many? she doesn't have any chocolate and very rarely sweet things so am i being paranoid about the sugar in raisins? any thoughts would be welcome

For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.they're not readily diegstible to little ones (you'll notice a lot come out the same as they go in!!) due to teh skin (ditto grapes) so for that reason, too many should be avoided. but then, too much of anything, no matter how nutritious, isn't a great idea. Yes, raisins are very sweet, but beyond that, they are very sticky and adhere to teeth as much as any sugar based sweet. Just be sure you are cleaning her teeth/gums very well 2 or 3 times a day.
My little two year old (well 2 in Feb) is the same. We buy the Sun dried raisins for kids, in Boots. As far as I'm concerned, she could love a lot worse. And they are recommended for children in all the Health Books.
But as the previous post says, they do tend to come out in the nappy, and the first time I say this, it frightened me until I caught on what it was. But grapes are the same.
