Anti Inflammatories

I believe that all anti-inflammatory medications can make you constipated. Is this the case. If so what do those who have a tendency to constipation do if they need to take them.

They do have a tendency to do that mintymow,so to counteract this you can take something like Movicol powders.

NSAIDs usually have the opposite effect causing gastrointestinal upsets and diarrhoea.

if they do cause such a problem, the constipation will be dealt with as any constipation is dealt with I think, more medication to counteract it.

However....... if my GP prescribes any medication that causes constipation, he advises that you take Lactulose liquid, often adding it to the prescription.

I've never known NSAIDs to cause constipation, opioids do though (Tramadol, dihydrocodeine etc.)

Gel constipation suppositories are a good temporary and non-medical way to ease constipation whatever the cause.

I was on anti-inflammatories for 18 months and never had a problem......

I was told by my doctor not to take ibrufen tablets, as they constrict the arteries, and i have angina. Just thought i'd mention it.
