Gastritis - Foods To Avoid?

After blood tests, ultrasound, barium swallows etc, I've been diagnosed with gastritis - but it seems to be very stubborn. Even though I'm taking omeprazole and Zantac daily, it keeps flaring up. My question is: what are the key foods to AVOID? I know that alcohol, coffee and heavily spiced foods (curries, chillies) are an absolute no-no but what else is risky? Various websites are contradictory; some say avoid onions, tomatoes, dairy, pasta others seem to think these are ok. Does anybody have any gastritis 'experience' that might help me decide what NOT to eat and does anyone have recommendations for meals that don't result in gastritis-based stomach pain and nausea? Thanks in advance.

acidic foods should be avoided, I found when I had it, onions, tomatoes, orange juice and citrus fruit were all horrific for me.
Spicy, fried, fatty and acidic foods should all be avoided.
Sorry to say but it does vary from person to person, and it's very much trial and error. My brother in law can't touch tomatoes or dairy, yet my friend is fine but can't have pasta. One thing they have both said is rather than a big meal, they feel better to eat a little and often, grazing rather than eating one big meal
I don't know what strength Zantac you take, but i was prescribed 300 strength tablets,( zantac in its medical name) take one before bed, and they worked like magic. got a good nights sleep, no resurgence and felt 100% in the morning. in fact, I took them for almost a year, and now do not have any problems, and take nothing.
Ritinidine is the medical - the generic name for Zantac

Thanks for the answers folks - some useful tips. I'll give them a try starting with the 'cut the orange juice' suggestion! I've been an OJ addict for years - especially the 'with juicy bits' brands!
