whenever i open an image film it opens on this really crap Ulead Photo Impact programme that i cant stand. i prefer to use photoshop but the only way i can open a film with it is to rightclick and go to open with. is there any way to change the default program to photoshop? i've tried deleteing photo impact but it isnt in the add/remove programs list.

When you get to the Open With menu use the Choose Program... option at the bottom of the list.

Select Photoshop from Recommended Programs (if not listed it will either be in Other Programs or you will have to Browse... for it) and ensure you have ticked the box Always use the selected program to open this kind of file.

Click OK. Et voil�.

You could always uninstall Ulead as well

A slight variation on what kempie said; if you want to do this without opening the file in the application with Open With, try right clicking on the icon of the file, choose Properties and then you'll see Opens With and a button to Change. This does the same as was suggested but doesn't go into the application. This is on XP.
