I would imagine the same as it is whe unconscious for any other reason. It is after all just a deep sleep the individual is apparently unable to break out of. So deep external influences produce no reaction.

My friend was in a coma for over a year. They (the doctors) wanted to turn the life support off but his mother refused. He woke up.
