I have a Ford Mondeo 2.0 TDci 2004. When I start it up the oil lamp estingquishes as normal. However after a few minutes the oil lamp comes back on. The oil level is OK. The car 51k on it nad has been serviced at 12.5 K intervals. Can anyone suggest the reason this is happening?

Many Thanks

It might be just the oil switch faulty so change that first. If still the same then could be very low oil pressure caused by a worn pump, stuck pressure relief, failed bearings etc. Try halving your service intervals in future, 12.5 K is much too long in my view.
As stanleyman suggested try a new pressure switch. Quite a simple job to do. I had the oil light come on once at a low speed in a Jaguar. Panic!
The garage replaced the switch (while I waited ) and told me it is quite common for them to fail. If it was a problem with worn or failed mechanical parts , apart from the light coming on there would be some nasty engine noises especially when pulling in a high gear.

Don't skimp on servicing, especially oil and filter changes.

False economy.
