Jodi Picoult - The Storyteller

Although well aware of her tremendous success and versatility, I have not read this author's books previously as I had her down as a chick-lit, lightweight sort of popular American writer.
However. I could not resist buying her latest one, above, as one to read while recuperating. Especially as the subject matter was the Holocaust.
Wow.
The story of a Holocaust survivor, a Nazi war criminal and a scarred granddaughter.
I think the author has veered into a slightly different darker direction with this latest novel, and there are some flights of fancy in there and some irritations, but an excellent novel. Touching, horrific, grim, violent.
Once again, wow.

I was pleasantly surprised rr - not that the story was pleasant, obviously, but that it was not the lightweight story I was expecting, and the ending was not as predictable as I thought either.

I'd guessed the twist, but not the ending.
I would recommend it.

I did see the film version of her book 'my sister's keeper'.
Oh my, what a tear feat that was. The whole cinema was blubbing, including the few men there.

The film version totally changed the ending though which was annoying if you'd read the book first.
