Cough In A 1 Year Old

hi my 1 year old has a cough and cold (all very normal) However the cough is keeping her (and me!) awake at night and making us all very miserable. I have raised the head of her cot and use vaporub on her chest before going to bed. She has a lot of snot plastered to her face in the mornings too.
i am usually against cough mixture because we cough for a reason and i wouldn't want to suppress it so that the flem stays on her chest
Anyone got any other ideas on what i could try to help?

I know this sounds daft but rub vicks on her feet and then put socks on - its to do with the reflexology points in your feet - it really works.

Well, if you want use cough medicines.

Take her out for a walk in the cold air last thing at night and use this....

I bought one of these for my grandson who gets regular coughs, it is really good and lasts for years.

any cough medicine you can buy off the shelf in the supermarket or pharmacey is little more than a placebo

should have on the end of it .... so I would definitely try a humidifier as above

those humidifiers sound like a brill idea.......when my kids were little it was either a boiling kettle or a wet towel on a hot radiator!

I also found the humidifiers brilliant when my daughter was a baby and had coughs and colds.
