I have the gas boiler in my bedroom and when the heating is on its burning away like a quiet engine.does anyone know if its dangerous to slee in the room with it, even though i open the window everyday while im at work. Cheers
If it's been installed correctly (ie properly ventilated to outside) and has cut-off mechanisms in the event of a failure of the gas supply, it should be OK. If the answer to either of those question is no, then it's dangerous.
It should also be a balanced flue boiler, which means that the flue has a concentric pipe of two circles cross-section. The outer one paases air in from the outside to the sealed boiler, the inner one expels the flue gases. The innerds of the boiler are sealed from the air in the room.
Agree totally with previous replies but have to say that in a previous house we had a combi in a bedroom but the "noise" while acceptable during the day, seemed to be much louder in the dead of night. For that reason alone I wouldn't have it again.
woolo, If your boiler in your bedroom is a "open flued", or "natural draught" appliance - turn it off ! If you don't know if it is or not - turn it off !, and contact a Corgi registered engineer for advice. This may appear to be over the top / drastic advice, but I assure you, it is not.
This would be better in a room sealed cupboard ventilated to outside. Quite easy to build one around it to quieten it down and be a bit safer from leaks including carbon monoxide. This can and has happened if the service engineer fails to fit the cover or seal properly.
