No meat, poultry, dairy, fish. Would be a vegan except the clothing etc...is very full on in requiring knowledge and time I do not possess. Was a veggie for about 9yrs and have been vegan (ish) for 6yrs. a total of 15yrs. and enjoy every minute of it.

I'm veggie and have been since March 2001 - at the height of foot and mouth. My partner has been veggie for god knows how many years and I mainly ate veggie. Then came foot and mouth. I waswatching the news on night and the reporter was doing a live piece to camera from a farm. In the background all you heard was 'bang', pause,'bang', pause,'bang', pause,'bang', pause. The reporter then explained that the noise was the cattle being shot. Having touched the flesh of an animal since - and that of course includes fish and other sea foods.

Do I count? I was one for 15 years before I discovered the joys of sushi :-)

Just a thought spainlads: before your conversion to vegetarianism as a result of realising that animals where being shot, had you not realised that they had to be killed before ending up as chops on the supermarket shelf?

I'm a veggie, trying to be a vegan! No milk, eggs, etc. Trying to follow God's original diet and only eat things made from fruits, nuts, veggies and grains.

I turned vegetarian when I was 11 and then became vegan when I was 30. I'm now 34. I had no probs going veggie, but being vegan can be difficult.Not because there's a lack of stuff you can eat,the variety of vegan stuff is increasing all the time, but I miss cheese!!

i find it hard to understand how anyone can eat a poor defenceless animal. I've been a vegan for years now, its the way to go.
