In a nut shell:
We've got new neighbours and usually their child wakes us up around 2 - 3am crying (our walls are wafer thin).
However, this morning, we had a "better" wake up call ....... the headboard rocking backward and forward .... creaking away at around 4am (on a weekday), with the odd moan and groan thrown in for good measure.
It's not like they're young randy lil' sods and they can't wait a few hours 'til a reasonable hour - I reckon they're in their fifties.
Just wondering what YOU would do.
1. Do you get your ear plugs out ??
2. Do you bang on the wall and tell 'em to shut the fk up ??
3. Or do u ask your missus if she wants a bit, so you can try and drown out their noises and let them know who's boss ??
I opted for 3, but my missus wasn't up for it, so I had to resort to option 1 ..... although I was VERY tempted with option 2 lol.
@Elvis68
Ok maybe I should have written "a child" or maybe "their grandchild".
To be honest, I don't know who's child it is - they only moved in quite recently. For all I know, the child could actually be their own child .... does it matter ??
Sara - under normal circumstances, that would prob be a good option. It's just that I haven't spoke to them yet and I don't really want to introduce myself and then say to them, "oh by the way, would you mind moving your bed ...... "
I had the same experience some 30 years ago and bringing up two sons. The only effective way I believe is to bang on the wall. At least it could make them feel guilty and they might make a little less noise another time. Earplugs are ok and they can hurt the ears but a stiff drink before retiring could help you to deal with it and it might even help you to go back to sleep.
I have thought of building cupboards along the adjoining wall but if the radiator is in the way it is not possible. That could help insulation a bit.
It's only happened once. Maybe worry about what to do if it's a regular occurrence. We used to have a neighbour with an enthusiastic GF. We just smirked at them next morning.
Clap and cheer when they've finished, really loudly. Hopefully they'll feel embarrassed and realise they've got an audience . . . unless they do and it turns them on more ;)
If it was just a one off, I'd put the pillow over my ears and go back to sleep. If it was happening all the time, and waking me up at 4am, I'd put a note through their letterbox explaining that, whilst it's great they have such a healthy sex life and clearly know how to satisfy one another, you'd rather not hear every single grunt and moan.
@ society - I haven't had the chance to speak to them at all, since they've moved in .... I'm not sure I can look them in the eye now, if and when I eventually get to meet them.
I'm not too bothered if this happens again, as long as it's not too often and as long as it's not frikin' 4am ...... hope they can wait 'til a decent hour next time lol .........
