does anyone know how much it will cost to have the immobiliser removed or bypassed, or a new one fitted on a H reg ford escort cabriole. I love my old car to bits but the immobiliser has stuck and I cant start my car, and I need it badly

I don't know how much it'd cost, but I wouldn't recommend removing it or bypassing it, as this will surely invalidate your insurance if it was stolen.

I have been in touch with motor electrician and he wanted £200 to move it. but thank you both for your answers.
If it were me then I would tow it either by myself or by the AA RAC or whatever organisation you belong to, "if any".
Couldn't say how much it would cost, try phoning around some auto electricians and get a few quotes.
Ah right, I see that you have already spoken to an auto electrician.

Thank you sooo much this has helped a lot, The car has been completely rebuilt by someone else before I had it, and don't know what he had done to it Iv'e had the car 4 yrs and shes been fine except for this. if it was a wreck i wouldnt bother but shes in such good nick it would be a shame to scrap her as the garage suggested. we live in the middle of nowhere and to get anything done is a nightmare. thanks again xxxxx

Why dont you consider a cheap diy job. Disconnect one of the wires on the coil, Connect a length of suitable size wire to this Route the wire to a secret location. add a switch, then route another length of wire off the switch back to the terminal.
