I faintly remember something about an airport, in America I think, which because of some powercut, the closure of another airport or some other problem had a huge back up of flights to land and they were landing them one after the other and the waiting planes were circling around the airport.

I remember it being quite a task and I remember some great pictures that were shown on telly, I tried finding out when and where was it to see if I can find pictures, but I can't seem to, I think it was in the mid to late 80s.

Sounds like the plot to Die Hard 2.

Maybe JFK in New York?

can't imagine the reason for your question cuddlycat.

it's a bit vague "in America I think". All airports are busy from time to time. However if you were on the 'plane and can remember where you were coming from and going to, have a look at the map. (?) Good luck.

Why are people on this website now more bothered about being "funny" than giving a proper answer? If you don't know why not just leave for someone else to answer?

Time wasters.
