I went to see my GP this morning for a steroid injection into my knee. It was a very big needle and oh boy did it hurt. It also set my teeth on edge as I felt the needle scrape on the underside of my kneecap.
I got by with several sharp intakes of breath and managed to say "Gosh, this is more painful than I thought."
When he had pulled the needle out, my GP looked thoughtfully at the tray the syringe had been on, picked up a second syringe and said "Ah, I forgot to give you the local anaesthetic first."
Do I get a sticker and a lolly for being brave?
