Was there one? Bucks Fizz's Makin Your Mind Up was a R&R song, as was the Stray Cats, Shakin Stevens... are there any more? Where rock and roll as a genre crept into the hits in the 80s chart?

Jive Bunny.
It wasn't really rock n roll so much as a fifties 'style' thing.

In additiion to what you said - Carmel, Mari Wilson, Kid Creole, Blue rondo a la turk, B-52s, Elvis Costello, Matt Bianco and more.

Buck's fizz wasn't part of it though.
Do The Hucklebuck was a big 80s hit. Dave Edmunds had a couple of gems too, like I Knew The Bride
It was more late 70s than 80s really, with Matchbox, Rocky Sharpe and the Replays, Darts and Showaddywaddy leading the way. Early 80s Shakin Stevens, Stray Cats, Polecats and a few others continued the trend but it didn't last that much longer, hits wise anyway, until the Jive Bunny revival stuff at the end of the decade.
You are right- rock'n'roll kept re-emerging throughout the 80s (don't forget Dire Straits' Twisting by the Pool, Fatboys & Chubby Checker and the Jackie Wilson rereleases) -as indeed it had in the 70s (Mud, Showaddywaddy, Steve Gibbons Band, etc).

I can't immediately recall any rock'n'roll tracks being particularly popular in the 90s or since, with the exception of all the Elvis re-releases that topped the charts in 2000 or so, and Olly Murs (Dance With Me Tonight).
