Mercedes Tyres
My 2011 car is at the Merc dealer on Tuesday to have the tyres checked as they said the tread was low when it had its first service
Mileage is 20k so I think this is low for new tyres as I have had many new cars and got around 30k per set,
Also, is having the dealer fit new tyres part of the warranty or can I search around for cheaper Yokohama tyres?
Thanks

Doubt whether tyres are in the warranty; things that wear out in the normal course of driving generally aren't. Think the dealers are having you on; there's more profit in tyres than anything else, so the quicker they can have you replace them, at the prices they charge, the better for them. The tyres are still legal, no doubt.
Dealer tyres are increasingly lower performance than the ones you buy, uncle al - it's an American cost-cutting thing that has been transposed to the EU. 20k is not bad as with Ford/GM/Chrysler you can be lucky to get 10 to 15.
Bet they are outside of warranty but check, as there are too many variables in play (such as all the grit on roads, this past winter).
