Police Interview As Voluntary Attender..
I would really appreciate some guidance on what is likely to happen and what I should do as I am getting really stressed out and my life feels like it has been messed up for good and I don't know what to do.
After a night out with football team, i got into a fight and I have knocked out the other persons tooth. I was extremely drunk and cant actually remember any of the incident and I woke up next morning with police ringing me asking me to go in for an interview and to view cctv. I answered questions without a solicitor truthfully saying I cant remember any of it and I couldn't tell if it was me on the cctv. I haven't been arrested but the officer said they are investigating more and I will have to go back in, presumably for charging??
On the cctv you can see my friend who was arrested at the scene, kept overnight and is charged with abh arguing and shoving 3 people. Then somebody who looks like me and another (who has been told is not under investigation) running from one side of street to the other and punching (the first punch) one of the 3 twice and then some rolling around on floor happens. The one who looks like me then pulls my friend off of one of the other lads as he is kicking him on the floor. Apparently my name and address was taken at the scene.
I just wondered what is going to happen/ likely outcome and should I take a solicitor with me when I go back? It would be a first offence and completely out of character. Should I say it was me as it does look like me (but face not clear) and my details were taken at scene??
I just cant stop worrying I have a good job and 2 children

I hope you are advised not to use the “I was drunk and therefore do not remember defence” as this may make the situation worse. Do not agree it is you that can be seen unless it clearly is you, the prosecution must prove you are guilty; you do not have to prove your innocence.
