I have always said I don't do Facebook. But there was a £5 off coupon for Lidl that could only be printed via Facebook, so I had to do it. I had an email from FB saying I had five friends waiting, three of them I knew, the other two I have never heard of. Can someone enlighten me as to how two complete strangers "know" me. I haven't replied to it as I don't want to but a just intrigued.

Blimey Caran, FB aint dangerous - its fun. Dont upload sensitive personal data. Mine is 'like minded' friends that I have something in common with. When I have a problem I get good advice on FB and it hasnt hurt me - yet.

I can check out school friends, past BFs and Abers. My local news and lots more, sometimes it absorbs me hours. You can have free live chats. Nowt to have a paranoia about.
When I first joined fb I had a load of people wish me happy birthday - couldn't understand how they all knew and got a bit spooked so left it. Rejoined a couple of years later and now I spend far too much time on it. Got lots of 'dog' groups I am on, and our club holds online committee meetings so we don't have to travel to discuss stuff. If I accept someone as a friend, I usually click the bit that says I will only receive important messages from them. I hate the things that come through saying 'share this with everyone you know' - usually delete them. Mainly though its a way of chatting with like minded people who you probably know a bit more than you do the people on AB, although I do like the anonymity of AB. Having said that I have met a couple of good friends through Animals & Nature, who are in my 'doggy' circle, but would not have otherwise known.
