I have just been looking at suitcases and note that it says what they hold in litres, not kilos- eg: 55 litres. Can someone please give me that in kilos please.
Litres are VOLUME, and the number of kilos will depend on what you pack into those litres.
The conversion factor for ship's cargo is 3.6 kilograms grams per 10 litres, so a shipping agent might expect to pack just about 20 kilos of unspecified goods into your 55 litre suitcase. But if it was ping-pong balls, or bowling balls, he'd be a long way out one way or the other!
It depends on the size of the clothes whether they could be packed in that size case. Eg you could have a big bulky coat. The size and weight is not related.
basically 55 litres is 55 kilos; but you can get 20 kilos into any size suitcase - if it's lead, in the case of little ones.
It's like asking which weights more, a ton of lead or a ton of feathers - they both weigh a ton, but one will be a whole lot bigger than the other.
So it depends what your clothes are and how tightly you fold them and squash them in. Shoes may weigh more, for instance. And laptops weigh a bit too. Best thing is to pack what you want and then weigh it. (Those little hand held devices are more useful than the bathroom scales).
