Having far too much time on my hands I decided I would make chocolate bowls (to serve ice cream in) for the kids. Simple enough instructions, blow up balloon, dip in melted chocolate. Easy peasy. First one worked fine but the second exploded sending molten chocolate everywhere. Undetered, and not one to give up I decided to crack on and have another go - two more exploded and I only managed to make four complete ones. These now appear to be stuck to the baking sheet that they are on. Also, I have a feeling that if I do get them off the tray, when I pop the balloon to get the chocolate off that be bang will explode the stupid things. On the plus side, the kitchen got an unexpected clean and I have now got the chocolate out of my hair.
You are good thinking of treats for the kids , never having had children I don't do the kiddy type treats. My step- children might be impressed with chocolate bowls filled with fruit and ice cream though ! Thanks for sharing Sherrardk .
Got the staid things off the baking tray fine (prised off with a knife) and deflated (rather than popped) the balloons using daffy's trick (thanks daffy). Bit thin in the bottom but if I had double dipped them they would have been brilliant (would have been even better if three hadn't exploded everywhere).
