I'm going to Albufeira in September and would love to know a little bit about the place. So if you can help I would be grateful. How hot will it be, the cost of a good sea food meal, the price of a large beer and the price of a decent bottle of wine. Thank you.

I haven't been for a few years, but it should be nice in September - still warm enough to swim, might need a woollie in the evening. Lovely beaches along that coast.

We are going to Portugal in September! But not to Albufeira.

I have a friend who lives out there - inland, it's badly hit by the recession, but the touristy parts are still doing well.

We have friends who own a holiday home there - got back 2 weeks ago and said thankfully the prices are not noticably higher this year. They live inland 30 mins drive from Algarve coast.

A wonderful county and very friendly people. Portuguese wines are very good value. Can't recommend the bacalhau though.

Going back to Albufeira shortly. have been going at least once a year for 10 years. There are loads of good places to eat.inc Portugese, Italian, Thai, Chinese and British. I can recomend the Cottage, located on "the strip", Rua Sa Carneiro. Plus the Verde Minho, Rua Dunfermlin, a Portugese buffet style eatery.
You will get a large beer for 1.50, at the Cheers bar Ave Infante Henrique and many other places. A good bottle of wine from a wine shop will cost from 3.80., but expect to pay 10 upwards ordered with a meal.

Hi, thinking of going there myself next year for a change. Let us know how you get on zabado and nice link Kathyan. Noticed on some of the things I have seen on Portugal that it is often hilly and I am not good at hills these days so any bit of info would be good. Thanks.

We went to Vilamoura a couple of years ago and it's lovely there. Not so hilly. There's a lovely marina (Cliff Richard keep his yacht there!). I love Portugal, it's the only place we will have been to twice! Three times if you count Madeira, now it is hilly there!
