My daughter has treated me and my H to 'Afternoon Tea' at the
'Roselin Hotel' on the Southend esplanade next week. Its not the Ritz but it is still quite posh. Do I wear a summer dress? (I'll have to buy one) or
summer slax & a pretty top? any other idea's?

Anyone been there?

I got married at The Roslin just 8 weeks ago, as I only lived round the corner (since moved abroad) so it will always have a special place in my heart. The food is lovely, as are the staff. I wouldn't worry about wearing something warm, they have heaters outside if its gets cold. In fact the smokers at the wedding were out there without any issue (and you will...

Wear whatever you are most comfortable in and enjoy yourselves.

^^^^ here's hoping Jemisa isn't most comfy in her dressing gown ;-)
Dress would be best I think like the old tea dresses
Do you want a new dress? That's what I'd make my decision on.

Have a good time with daughter in Southend Jemisa.
Wear something for when it gets chilly when the sun goes down.
We often have a roast meal in the Castle pub in Southend on a Sunday, lovely food there.
Never been to Roselin hotel, sounds quite posh! x
I'm sur should will have a lovely time.

I would be perfectly comfortable in nice trousers and a pretty top.

Things are much more relaxed than they once were and dressing according to the time of day and what one was eating is history. Keep it alive if you wish but let progressionists do their thing too!
I always remember our headmaster at school saying it was suitable for the girls to wear "afternoon dresses" to sports day....
Heaven only knows what that first sentence was meant to say before the iPad garbled it! Have a nice time whatever you choose to wear.
Went there a few times when we lived in Southend. Slacks and a top would be fine(unless you need an excuse to buy a dress.)

We too have spent many a Sunday in the Castle for Sunday Lunch pusskin, we may even have rubbeed shoulders eh?

I've never been to the Roselin either, its further up going towards Shoeburyness.

I don't really want a dress Ummmm, I feel more comfy in trousers & skirts.

I'd go with that then. Trousers look just as smart.
I have had afternoon tea at The Ritz and The Savoy. I wore plain black trousers and a nice smartish top on each occasion. It is more important to feel comfortable so you can really enjoy the experience.
All the staff at both hotels were friendly and attentive and really helped to make the afternoon special.
I hope you enjoy yourselves.
Jemisa, we may have brushed shoulder while in the castle.
Will bring a whistle with me next time and maybe we can give each other a wave, haha x (Enjoy your afternoon tea)
Jem , wear whatever you feel comfy in.
(outdoor clothes not indoors!)
Hope you have a lovely time xx
