i have never had a kidney infection ever before so i dont know how serious it can be, so need to ask!
My sister in law has just been rushed to hospital, ambulance on its way right now.
What can the problem be --is kidney infection that bad to be hospitalised?
She cannot even get out of bed we have just been told.
She was put on antibiotics while at home in Spain, but just return to have a 2 week stay here. Poor thing, what could be wrong?
I've had pyelonephritis twice. The pain is excruciating and strong antibiotics are needed to kill the infection, or it will damage the kidney. I've seen my damaged kidney on x-rays and it looks like a shrivelled walnut!
Not an uncommon situation and certainly not life threatening.
Painful, one feels hot and sweaty, but should respond quite quickly to intravenous adoration and antibiotics.
Investigations will be needed once your SIL has settled to exclude any underlying problem.
Thanks Squad, hope she has tests done and they find its only a kidney infection. When i say only ,Ii mean that I hope its just that and nothing more sinister. Thanks Squad
Back again! recent update.
So far hospital seems to think it can be a cyst or cysts on the liver!
There will be further tests today i think.
What will the treatment be if that is the case. Thanks abers x
Thanks Squad, yes, bit worrying now and shame she is only here for a week or two. Spanish hospital let her travel but she is lots worse since returning. Will update when i hear any more. many thanks for replies Abers.
