The code for the city's international airport is EZE, which stands for Ezeiza (you have a choice of pronunciations here: in standard Castilian, which spoken all over Spain, and which is understood all over the Spanish-speaking world, the "Z" is lisped to give the same sound as the "TH" in "think"; in the Spanish of Andalusia, the Canaries, and the Spanish Americas, the "Z" is the same as an unvoiced "S", e.g. as in "sing" - thus, you can choose to say either "Etheitha" or "Eseisa", both being correct. The "official" name for Ezeiza is "Aeropuerto Ministro Pistarini", but no-one uses it. Bs. As. (as the city is commonly abbreviated) also has a domestic airport called Aeroparque Jorge Newbery, code AEP. If "Newbery" does not look or sound like a Spanish name, remember that Britain and Ireland have left a large community in the country, a community that is commonly (if erroneously) called "Anglo-Argentine". This brings me to a final point: in English, it is correct and polite to refer to the country as "the Argentine" rather than "Argentina", and to the people as "Argentines" rather than "Argentinians". The latter usages arose after the Second World War, for reasons to do with the USA's attempts to reduce UK influence in the country, which continues to be significant (the Falklands War notwithstanding). The politeness to which I refer is greatly appreciated by those large numbers of Argentines (not necessary of UK/Irish ancestry) who, politics apart, hold the UK and Ireland in huge affection, and who view this part of the world almost as a second home.
