Along wth pixie's advce, try numerous very warm compresses in the evening before bed.
Just use a wash cloth wrung out after being soaked in hot tap water... try to do the same thing in the morning as well...
If you have eyedrops in (provided in date) you can get little eyebath cups quite cheap from a chemist, mine cost 50p.
Another trick with the warm compresses is to have a hot water bottle, not too hot, put over a towel over your closed eyes, less messy and lasts longer than wet cloths.
