What's The Piece Of Metal Called On This Picture?

Now this is going to be a stupid/pointless question but I've been wanting to make a knife lanyard using braided leather cord and wanted to tie the two pieces together. The picture below shows what i'm describing, i'm looking for a metal "ring" or "clip" to bind the two together as it does in the image below.

Any ideas what to search so i can find a supplier?

You could try oval jump rings or oval metal findings.

surely the ring is put onto the ties before the silver metal ends are added to the tie. In which case it could be home made using similar-
