Milder than the mainland, when you arrive you must first visit the Fairy Bridge (just outside Douglas). Ask them nicely for good weather and they do like a small token of your visit.
Enjoy your trip, if you like golf the courses are 'testing'.
It's a great wee place, especially if you fancy a holiday in the 1950s.
I've always found the weather to be about the same as the mainland except that it changes quicker.
I also found the beer to be rank so stuck to Guinness.
I do like it there though.
My wife and I went there for a week about 10 years ago. Weather much the same as mainland if you're near the sea. I remember how poor people seemed to be. Rundown properties. We went into a shop and I bought something simply because I felt I had to give the old couple some money somehow.
The Isle of Man is great! I used to go every year to run and drink large quantities of Okells ale, which is OK as a matter of fact.
Port Erin on a sunny day is particularly lovely.
Douglas is indeed like a throwback to an earlier age but none the worse for that.
And there's the Laxey wheel and Snaefell mountain railway
We are going there next month for our third visit in four years. Its a lovely place, friendly people, interesting places to visit, and weather similar to ours. We have taken our car on each occasion, crossing via 'Manannan' from Liverpool. Enjoy your visit.
