As Federer was made to change his shoes due to the red soles(wimbledon rules stae clothing must be predominantly white) why are the females allowed to wear brighty coloured shorts?
Undergarments are regarded as 'accessories' under the rules and ,therefore, can be of any colour. They are ,however, not supposed to be visible when the player is standing upright.
Further to my post yesterday the rules state that players can wear any coloured underwear they wish provided it does not show beneath their shorts or skirt. Still seems daft to me!!!
There are committees agonising over trivial "Dress Code" matters at most gold clubs in UK. Tennis is quite relaxed by comparison. At my golf club men are now permitted to wear short white ankle socks when wearing 'tailored' shorts, but are prohibited from wearing in-shoe sockets.
My local greengrocer went for a round of golf at his club. 3 days later he got a letter from the committee telling him not to park his sign written van in the front car park as it lowers the tone of the golf club. Needless to say he told them where to stick their membership!
years ago i knew someone who was berated for not wearing a tie in the golf club bar ... the following week he was in the bar wearing a tie, nothing else, just a tie
