Have any of you (as opposed to anybody specific) noticed any missing categories? Either it's gone for good or coming back in some other form. Are we likely to be treated to an official announcement at some point?

Yep, I've noticed CB has gone- gotta say, it's not looking good for it's return!

I'm very curious why the Ed is so quiet on the topic, I'm sure we'd all appreciate a deffinative response over whether it's returning or not- it saves us all (apart from you acw) constantly asking.

I never used CB very much and haven't gone to any of the other alternatives suggested, so can I ask - seriously - what is wrong with those alternatives? What do people want that they don't provide? What do they want out of CB?

A related question, also serious, is: can they think of some way that people using a new CB would just obey the rules? Myown guess is that AB Ed just had to spend too much time clearing away abuse, profanity, impostery, trollery - all against the rules - to make CB worthwhile for the owners. Given that AB's stated mission is to be a family site, have any of the users pleading for CB's return any workable suggestions about how it might be kept clean?

Hi ACW, Boo, trish and Boobesque, and hello jno. I think there is still a problem cos that pussinboots was able to get back with the same name almost and still they had been banned last week. It has to be something techno that would prevent it but I am a techno dunce, sorry. As one of the victims of the nastiness on CB in previous months, I would like to see it return and be the hilarious and maniacal place it was, but without the darker side. No idea how, but I am an optimist, cheers ACW for highlighting the issue.

I guess that's because all of Homer's pleading posts have been removed dot... but that's another example, there have been 2 or 3 homers one after the other.

But the questions I asked were, I imagine, basically the ones Crystal Guides would ask if they thought of restoring CB: what do users want it to be, and how could it be kept clean without using inordinate amounts of AB Ed's time? If they didn't come up with any answers, I can't see why they'd bother.

I can't put my finger on why other forums just dont appeal to me jno, ans Gawd knows i've tried a few since the demise of CB, I think it's because I got comfortable with CB, I loved the 'cosiness' of it (Yes I'm aware I'm coming across as barking mad now!!).

And as for keeping the twonks out of CB should it come back in the future???? Don't ask me, I know how to switch my 'puter on- that's it!

Jno you may have actually come up with something there, if the CB regulars were able to develop the category, how would they want it to be done? Previously it was open house, anyone could register, I know for a fact that i have no issues adding my real name and addy to any application made to a company like Crystal Guides, Microsoft have it and so do Yahoo, why not? Would that have any bearing on how many times people can register?

It's a shame that nobody saw fit to inform users of this site that a complete category was being removed, whether temporarily or otherwise.

jno's summed it all up for now and until such time as an announcement is made we're still in the dark, although I have seen a pink box today which indicates that somebody's out there.

Well, if I hadn't been banned (I still don't know why), there would only have been one Homer. There wasn't 2 or 3 Homers anyway. It was just me. I'm still baffled as to what people, or Ed, don't like about my posts.

I just get people coming on saying "maybe this" or "maybe that". What use is that?

How about having a chatterbank category that is monitored and policed by the AB members that the Ed (and other members) has come to know and trust (If there are any). Giving these members the ability to delete / edit posts on a trial basis. I never used CB much so don't know if this would suit or if there are any legality issues on the AB Team side.
