Just a curious question,
My cat has always caught the odd mouse and brought it home, leaving it near the back door for us to bin.
Last year I thought she must have been in her prime and finally got the hang of it as we lost count of how many she caught, we got one most days.

This year she will be 7yo and we've had none.
SO is it---

A) She is getting old.
B) She thinks "Why should I as they bin them"
C) There aren't any to be caught (for some reason).
D) She's just lazy (Running around is for crazy cats).
E) She is eating them (I hope not)

Have any of you had any? :)

TIA.. xx

My cat has never brought me presents. He brings home his catch sneaks in with it and devours it under the dining room table. He leaves the stomach and the head to be cleaned up.
I said to my kids the other day that we hadn't had any presents from our two this year... most strange!

I have been, in the past, woken up by live frogs on my bed in the middle of the night and spent many a happy hour catching errant mice!

This year.... nothing!

headwreck and ummmmmm, My hairdresser's cat used to catch rabbits and eat them. She always thought of her cat as a lllaaadddyy and blamed the remains on next doors cat until they told her they'd saw hers doing it :)
ASBO brought a fully grown, live Coot home the other day. He obviously went for a dip in the lake, caught himself a bird that would feed him for a whole week then managed to haul it over a 6 foot fence.

Thankfully, Mr BM and I are quite adept at rescuing things from him and said Coot was released, live and kicking and very very angry, back into the lake.

Brinjal, That's awful, think I'd be sick.

Divegirl, That's is........... where are the mice its weird how they just stopped bringing them for us, mines 7yo in August.
My last cat lived until she was 21 1/2 and was catching mice and the occasional bird until she was about 15 - 16. She also caught a wild rabbit which she let go in my bedroom - it was really fun trying to catch it at 2 a.m.!

Barmaid is asbo a huge cat? mines very small, mice are the biggest thing she could ever handle.
No, he's not all that big Arwyn (he's actually the smallest boy we've got). He is just very very strong though and utterly fearless.

Boto is there a secret to their long life :) I did think mine was young to have stopped hunting, she's still mad and loves to play chase and hide and seek so I know its not because she's ill.
Question Author
Barmaid the only time mines fearless is when another cat dares to set foot in our garden, she'll let them stay on the top of the 6ft fence and walk around it to get to the next garden but they won't dare come down from it.
