3 little boys (aged between 3-5) are playing and screaming in neighbour's backyard. However, I am out at front weeding a bit between cement slabs and the 3 year old came over to me - your dog bite me - me answering - where did he bite you - I don't know - me - well do you want me to bite him back - he says no, put him in the bin.

no of course not - do you think I'd be out the front weeding - this little boy is terrified of dogs - his mum was telling me last week.

I know, I know but why does he say such things? Even at 3 mine were brought up to respect others & animals. He must be getting this sort of behaviour from somewhere. Maybe the parents do not like dogs?

My Mum put me off dogs,
whenever I wanted to stroke one she would say it might bite me, which is a horrible thing to say to a small child.
As I grew up fortunately I discovered she was wrong, I love dogs now.

Ahh no - as Ummm said - he is only 3 for Gawd's sake - ironically they had a dog for about 5 years and their dog had bitten/nipped 7 different people (including my neighbour's mother - she had to attend hospital for 6 months re her injury) the owner did nothing about it but when it bit her grand-daughter in the face - she eventually got rid of it - perhaps the little boy has memories of that. Am awaiting astonishing replies. :( Conne - this street /cul-de-sac sorta dont hold grudges. But for me personally if it had have been my mother it would have gone further. But my wee Harvey hasn't bitten one person in 9 years - but does have a fearful bark which puts people off.

As to being binned - since he has cancer he could be binned any time - hope not by a long chalk. Just an update guys. Conne

Ah, its becoming a bit clearer now, he obviously has had 1st hand experience of biting, I thought he must have got the idea from somewhere, as kids of 3 don't normally think of that sort of thing I know my 3 year old G Daughter would not have.
As for binning him - it was just said tongue in cheek, no harm meant.

Well to Sparkles my dog has cancer of the thyroid and cos of his fearful bark - I put him on a stretch lead on the front of my house of a nice morning - looking down at the cul-de-sac - - no kiddies - all at school - and he chills out. But still because of his bark the kiddies are afraid of him. So of course I bring him in. He is believe me the harmless critter you could have - he is afraid of his own shadow. When I bring the venetian blinds down - he runs like hell - when I swat a fly - he runs like hell. One needs to own an animal to understand. Now that he has cancer I am allowing him to die with dignity. It could be weeks, months, years. Who knows!

PS - Sorry Sparkles - but I am crying a little bit now - but Mr Harv (Harvey) (he seems to be good on the painkillers) cos I don't know when the end is in sight. He has been to vets of course (they told me "how long is a piece of string). Vets/Doctors - one day at a time Sweet Jesus.
