jobs for under 16s

I am only 15 and really want to get a job but most shops etc only employ people who are over 16. Has anyone got ideas for places that i can get a job?

what about local stuff like washing cars/mowing lawns?

things may have changed since i was 15 (most things have!) but i worked in the co-op at 15 and as a waitress at13/14 and a paperound at 13

Small businesses in your area e.g small, local shops sometimes take on young people.  Pet shops and cafes are ideal because not all of their jobs are to do with money.

hairdressers take you on from about 14. It can be fun too but don't expect a huge pay packet.

I started working in a shop when I was 14, and it wasn't a hairdressers.

I used the smaller till which generally involved a lesser amount of money than the other two, but it was a small family run business and I'm still there now.

Try card shops, little newsagents (you won't be able to use the lottery until you're 16 and would only be allowed to serve tobacco under supervision), etc.  With 16 year olds reducing their hours in order to prepare for GCSEs and perhaps quitting as they're relocating for college, a lot of shops are after people...

on the faith website (the shoe shop) it says they employ people aged 15 but there are restrictions, such as not being able to work on a sunday. if theres a shop near you you could go in and ask about it.

always make sure, where you're applying to, how much they pay, minimum wage for 16 year olds is �3, but since you're only 15 they could pay you pennies.
