On a practical note: I had a lady working for me for most of last year, selling shoes of course, but once a week she was attending college to do florestry NVQs. She had already done a year, one night a week. Anyway, when she finished her second year in july, she then got a few hours a week in a local florists in her village and was only paid the money her work sold for after costs deducted. Then in October she was back at college one night a week and she left me to work full time in this florists, apparently, she learnt more in a month in the shop than she had at college over 2 years. She left shoes and is now really enjoying the shop but is still i night a week at college.
My wife has run a very successful florist shop for more than 14 years. She has no qualifications as such, We have had a number of people start who have been to college on courses, but learn most of business in the shop under my wife's supervision, the latest girl Nicky came after 2 years in collage, very eager, now says she has learnt more in 5 moths than the 2 years in collage as do most assistants say. Nothing counts for practical experience.
