I have just bought an Egyptian Arabic phrase book. It fell open at the Arabic for "Where do gays hang around here?" Should I be worried? If I point to it by mistake will I be arrested or will I just make new friends?

One word for Gay is: lootee .. the final ee is adjectival and loot is yup from Lot of S+dom and Gomorroah fame.
You will be propositioned by all and sundry during your stay - as they need money to eat. Especially now as tourism has stopped as a result of the unrest. Lots of beds to take them to: bed occupancy at Luxor at this time is 15%. Actually I think it is closer to zero.
watch out for.... I am fifteen year old virgin (all ages)

and you rich and I am poor. I let you do it, fifteen pounds.
I didnt check but thought that was £E15 - that is £1.50 in our money. I thought it probably was. Showing economic interest I thought was the Wrong Thing.
O and if you learn any Arabic you learn what they really think of you....
you know what they say about overheard conversations
O and there arent any flights there except for the Red Sea resorts so you may have to walk.....
O and watch out for harami (thieves)
O and they use football fields for football - not public executions. That was the Taleban- but they are easily confused because both wear funny headdresses.
