Perhaps I should explain that after 25 years + as a lecturer I've done my fair share of talking. After work, relative silence is a blessing, and 'chatting' is very far from a pleasure. Guess I value privacy too much.
I can see the sense in carrying a mobile for emergencies (and do so), but social chat is not a great priority for introverts. Each to his own, eh?
Other forms of technology, computers, satnav etc. are A1 by me, but mobile phones don't inspire me. Happily, my wife and friends all share my view.
