"The whole map of Europe has been changed ... but as the deluge subsides and the waters fall short we see the dreary steeples of Fermanagh and Tyrone emerging once again."
Especially if they were tweaked a bit to, 'the dreary prospect of the Ardoyne Shops emerging once again.
The Parades Commission has made an adjudication that the marchers can walk past this flashpoint in the morning but not in the afternoon as they make their way home. A compromise that satisfies nobody. What answer is there to this problem?

I have never experienced one first hand - do they elicit joy and a good mood? If not, I would probably be inclined to ban them entirely - they just seem so old-fashioned and irrelevant....

Most marches pass without any trouble. But a few, where they want to walk through areas where they're not wanted, have the potential for causing trouble. An example today would be the band that stopped outside a RC church and played 'The Sash'. Playing this sectarian tune there could only be seen as a deliberately provocative act.
I've never been at a march, either. I'd guess they somehow see what they're doing as defending their culture.
